Antonio Conte asks Chelsea board to postpone contract negotiations

Antonio Conte has asked Chelsea’s board to postpone negotiations regarding his contract extension, along with deals for the rest of his players, according to reports.
The Times claims that the Italian wants his squad to focus on winning the Premier League and as such, he does not want any distractions ahead of the final stages of the season.
Chelsea are keen to offer new deals to Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard to counter interest from Real Madrid.
The Premier League leaders, who have agreed to Conte’s request, also want to extend the Italian’s deal, which will have two years remaining this summer.

Conte has guided Chelsea to the top of the Premier League, ten points clear of second-placed Manchester City, and has made his side a formidable unit with his 3-4-3 system.
‘He’s widened the vocabulary of English football, tactically,’ former Arsenal defender Martin Keown told the Daily Mail.

Chelsea want to offer Antonio Conte and Eden Hazard new deals.

‘Conte played three at the back in the summer with Italy but has managed to vary it up slightly at Chelsea and still managed to get the right balance between attack and defence.
‘That has been key to them dominating the Premier League like they have.’
