Ghanaian beauty entrepreneur Rebecca Donkor turning dreams into reality

Ms. Rebecca Donkor is the Founder and CEO of Makeup Ghana, the unifying platform for the beauty industry in Ghana focused on Policy Advocacy, Brand and Product Development Consultancy, Training & Events. She is also a member of the University of Ghana Alumni Council and an Ambassador for the Youth Employment Agency. Rebecca holds an MBA in Marketing & Entrepreneurship from the University of Ghana Business School. She also serves on Boards and acts as an Advisor to early and growth stage businesses within the beauty industry.

She channels her immense passion and love for the beauty industry through leading initiatives such as the Ghana Makeup Awards and the Africa Makeup and Beauty Fair. She recently as part of her policy advocacy and the need for SOP within the beauty industry spearheaded the development of national curricula for two accredited programs in Makeup Artistry, in partnership with COTVET, as well as working on a Code of Practice for the Beauty Industry, in partnership with Ghana Standards Authority.

Due to her exceptional efforts in ensuring growth in the beauty industry, she was appointed and currently serves in two ambassadorial roles; the Youth Education Ambassador by the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) alongside the Second Lady of Ghana, Samira Bawumia under the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations. The most recent being the appointment as Technical & Vocational Education & Training (TVET) Ambassador alongside the first lady of Ghana, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo, by the Council for Technical and Vocational Educational Training (COTVET) Ghana and the Ministry of Education. Ghana’s Business Development Ministry has also engaged her in a couple of projects; Trainer and Consultant for the Presidential Business Support Programme, appointed as Lead Judge at the last Presidential Pitch and also the Project Judge for the 2019 Campus Business Pitch; a programme by the Ministry of Business Development to help student entrepreneurs across various universities in the country.

Rebecca has worked in various capacities for individuals, startups, and multinationals helping them execute projects focused on youth empowerment, women empowerment, events management, brand development, and talent management.

Rebecca is passionate about contributing to the development of the Beauty Industry in Ghana and Africa and works tirelessly towards positioning the industry as a viable sector for improving the country’s economic growth.
