Israella Kafui Mansu is a Ghanaian-born leading beauty and cosmetics entrepreneur. She started MGL Naturals at the age of 23, from her kitchen, when she couldn’t find a job after completing her National Service exercise. She’s since gone on to launch series of skin and hair products using organic Shea butter, raw cocoa butter, virgin coconut oil and other natural cosmetics ingredients. Israella Kafui Mansu was born in Sogakope in the South Tongu district, a district in the Volta Region of Ghana and moved to Liberia with the family whiles young. Unfortunately it was during that period that the war broke in Liberia so the family moved back to Ghana. After successfully completed her tertiary education at the University of Ghana, Legon with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Consumer Science and Psychology. Israella thrived to get a job but to no avail. This circumstance motivated her and with as little capital of GHS300 ($80.00) which she gathered from savings during her National Service exercise she started her first company using her kitchen as a laboratory where she formulated and prepared the first few cosmetic products. Israella started her brand out of a need to survive, reason why when you ask her about beauty and skincare products, words like empower, revolution, and sustainable resources dominate the conversation.
Just as she said in an exclusive interview with Akpah Prince a Ghanaian journalist, “In starting the company, I had two main visions in mind to make money to survive and create jobs to employ people because the rate of unemployment in the country now is just so high and pathetic, so these factors motivated me to start this very company”.
In another recent interview with Pleasures Magazine, the CEO of MGL Naturalsemphasis on helping her community, she said “Because of that, our purpose – to empower people to live more beautiful lives – sits at the center of everything we do as company and compels us to keep community at our core.
