Wakaa The Musical was a hit in Lagos, Nigeria, and has now opened in London. The show follows the fate of a group of young graduates as they find their way in the world. The two-hour stage musical was a fusion of drama, comedy, live music and dance about the trials, successes and experiences of graduates with different backgrounds.
Aiming to give audiences a taste of modern day Nigeria, Wakaa is the first Nigerian-produced musical to be performed at a London theatre. The successful show had several dignitaries in attendance such as Lai Mohammed,minister of information and culture; Segun Awolowo, CEO of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council; Chinelo Amazu-Anohu, Director General of the Nigerian Pension Commission; Waheed Olagunju, Managing Director of the bank of industry; Deji Alli, Managing Director Mixta Africa; Baroness Lindsay Northover, member of the House of Lords and Trade Envoy to Angola; Ms Kate Osamor (MP) – Chair, Nigeria all Parliamentary Party Group.
Wakaa! the musical, was a completely sold out show and the hugely successful homegrown musical is the first of its kind to debut at the Shaw Theatre London.
