Many residents of Tema and its environs from October 19-21, took advantage of the three-day long health screening and treatment organized by El-Kana Ministries International in collaboration with the “Friends of Africa International ”, a US based non-profit organization.
The exercise, which formed part of the church’s mission of helping to bring quality health care to the door steps of people in Tema, benefited more than 200 .
The beneficiaries were screened for all forms of diseases including blood pressure, malaria, tooth and eye test as well as other chronic diseases among others.
They also received free medical consultation and provision of eye glassess and drugs after diagnosis and were educated on various diseases.
Those whose cases were found to be serious were referred to the hospital for further checks and treatment at the expense of the church.
Prophet Ernest Adati, the head pastor of the church, in an interview with the Pleasures Magazine, said it is the vision of the church to alleviate poverty and improve health care in the country and help improve their living standards to make life comfortable for them.
He said apart from feeding the people with the word of God, there was also the need for the church to offer them the needed healthcare . Therefore he appealed to other benevolent organisations, especially churches, to emulate the gesture by El-Kana Ministries, adding that the provision of health care is a shared responsibility by all in the society.
