In a recent interview with Pleasures Magazine, Nollywood actress and producer Elo Igbiwu and her handsome businessman husband talked about their family , what most people don’t know about their undying love for each other, why they are succeeding as couple and lots more. The Most Beautiful Girl in Delta State in 2007 and movie producer and her husband gave beautiful answers to all the questions but when asked to talk about the nicest things they ever done for each other, their answers were kind of hilarious but beautiful. This interview was granted in 2014 at their Accra residence. See excerpts below:

How did you two meet?
Elo: Anthony and I met in Accra through a mutual friend in 2009. I came over to shoot a movie. Apparently the first time he saw me was with one of his friends, who happened to be friend as well, as he was trying to talk to me,.. “you know nou” shunned him, as ladies does lol..We became friends, which graduated into best of friends until we got married.
How did you two meet?
Anthony: My wife and I met through a mutual friend here in Accra, there was this friend of mine who is into movies, he came around and told me there’s someone he would like me to meet, a Nigerian actress, she is Accra to shoot a movie and that was it! I got her phone number and we began talking. She did though try to make it hard but persistence and conviction won at the end…laughing
What attracted you to her?
Anthony: She is a dream comes through woman. She is kind of woman I was praying for before we met. She is a good woman, yes she is a good woman and I thank God for her.
Apart from the fact that he is a handsome man, what else attracted you to him?
Elo: He is man with a good heart, a God fearing man, his passion for the things of God is incredible. An introvert as well as a focused young man. This was rare in most of the young guys in his time. He was responsible, organised, he knew what he wanted out of life and was working towards that. So, that was the basic thing that attracted me to him.
What do you love most about Elo?
Anthony: I think the fact that she has a good heart. You see, in these days, you find that a lot of people are just wicked in their hearts. People come into relationships with already pre-set goals and targets; what they want to achieve in that relationship and it’s all about them. And you can never make a relationship work when it’s all about you; both partners in that team have to open their hearts. You have to open your heart to the other person, take all the nonsense and then you have to be ready to forgive; you have to respect the other person. You can’t be married to somebody you don’t respect. So, for me, what I love most is her heart. She has a good heart and very loving.
How do you manage her male admirers?
Anthony: I like that question. They must be there, if she doesn’t have them, then some thing isn’t right. They are there because she is doing her job, but this thing has to do with the way you present your self. A lot of people see us as a conservative brand. We are seen as a reserved couple so they respect us a lot, so even with the admirers, there is nothing out of hand.
Talking about you as a couple, have you two ever gone to bed angry?
Elo: No! We don’t ever sleep over a quarrel, never! That’s a policy.
Anthony: Never! Marriage is a sacrifice, we talk about it before we sleep no matter how late it may be.
What inspired you into acting?
Elo; Rita Dominc, I love her very much, for her act and her comportment. I also I love Olu Jacob; he is such a wonderful actor and a father.
How did acting start for you?
Elo: I have passion for acting. Right from my childhood, I had always wanted to be an entertainer. I love to put smiles on people’s faces. Over time, I developed interest in our home videos and started watching them. What really triggered off the spark eventually was when I watched a movie that starred Rita Dominic. That movie inspired me the more.
Which particular movie launched you into stardom?
I noticed it was Tears of a Prince which I did with Desmond Eliot, Ngozi Ezeonu, Neulla Njubigbo and some other artistes.
You are also a model, how did modeling begin for you?
Modeling for me started like a child’s play. But in 2007, I decided to give it a try with determination I was able to make something out of it.
What have you achieved as a model?
My main achievement as a model was in 2007 when I was crowned the Most Beautiful Girl in Delta State in 2007.

You have been in the industry for sometime now, what is your experience?
For me acting is something I enjoy doing. I feel fulfilled doing it but there are ups and down in it. Acting has changed my life positively, the experience has been good anyway. It has added good things to my life as an individual and I don’t regret my acting career at all.
You act and also produce, how challenging is that?
Acting and producing are two different things entirely. Acting for me is less challenging compared to producing because being a producer demands a lot of responsibilities, in the sense that you want to meet up with your target. As a producer, you are required to make your cast and crew confident and relaxed. You want to satisfy and urge them to give their best. Now combining both is not an easy task at all, but since I have made up my mind about both, I cope very well.
Is acting/producing paying off for you?
Elo: Is that a joke or something? yes it is paying off. Big time!
Who can you say is the best Director you’ve worked with so far?
I’ve worked with so many amazing directors who are unique in their own various crafts.
More on your family; So what are the ingredients that have kept you together?
Anthony: First and foremost, it is God. Without Him, we couldn’t have lasted this long and secondly, there is this mutual respect. And from the beginning she saw me as someone who had something to offer. And its vice versa. She matches up with me intellectually and socially. You should marry someone that can measure up to your intelligence. We also communicate a lot, and the respect between us makes it easier. I see her as my equal,( She is my Tweaaaa, my co-equal lol) general laughing…I don’t talk to her in a condescending manner, neither do I use derogatory words for her. There is also the love factor, but we also made up our minds that we were going to ensure it works You seem to be a very colourful person. What colours are your favourites?
Elo I love flashy colours like red, pink, lemon and any colour that is flashy.
Anthony: Mine is white. I love it!
Tell us about your children.
Elo: We don’t want to expose them to the press until they are ready to make that decision, We have two kids, Ryan and Emmanuel.
What advice do you have for upcoming ones?
They should look for actors who have stood the test of time and emulate them. They should be humble, be creative and do some thing unique. What advice would you give to young couples out there?
Elo: Basically,, patience is a virtue, they can’t do without. Then there is the need for communication at all times. There is also the need to be tolerant and most of all they should commit their marriage to God rather than taking their problems to a third party.
What don’t you like about her?
Anthony: Nothing, except she’s not a demanding type.. laughing
What hasn’t Elo done for you?
I can’t think of any. Because most of the things that I really think are important to me, if I discuss them with her, she normally complies. She’s a very reasonable person, except she has never demanded anything for me before.
Anything?
Yes. She has never. All I have done for her has always being out of love.
What’s the nicest thing that Elo has done for you?
Ah! Yee! (Thinks) It has to be regarding the kids. Carrying the children, carrying them for nine months. If you see them when they are in their third trimester or what do they call that thing of pregnancy, you will pity them o! They will look like ballon. I mean, I think that for me is the nicest thing. They are our kids anyway, but it’s a lot of sacrifice for a woman to lose her body like that for nine months.
